The Puddy Pad Posing Doll was born out of necessity! I needed something accurate to "try on" my felted photo props. I also wanted to improve my photography, in particular my newborn posing and wrapping. There is another posing doll on the market with the purpose of practicing posing newborns, but there are some major problems. Number one problem is the price. At almost a thousand dollars, the expense is not realistic for me. Another problem is that the other doll cannot be posed in some of the more popular newborn poses. Also, it doesn't move or "feel" like a real baby.

With these problems in mind, I set out to make a better, more affordable product. After completing my first doll, I posted an image on Facebook. I was, quite literally, overwhelmed by the positive response. I received dozens of messages, asking if I would release a pattern. After receiving dozens more messages, I decided to take a short break from my busy photography props business to write up and release the pattern in mid-September, 2017.

The finished dolls are also available, for those who do not want to, or cannot, make their own.

It was really important to me to design a pattern that was easy enough for most beginners to complete with minimal frustration. I also wanted something functional, that used easily accessed (and inexpensive) materials. Basically, I think every newborn photographer should have the opportunity to either make or buy a doll to practice Safely posing precious newborn babies.
